Member Commitments

The roles and responsibilities of participating DSME COP members are outlined below. The community will routinely assess and evolve its purpose, expected responsibilities, and governance structure to ensure its continued utility and effectiveness towards the ultimate goal of eliminating malaria.

Advisory

The COP will serve an advisory function to the DSME project. Expected commitment: ~3 hours per month on a voluntary basis.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in conversations with DSME project partners, and contribute relevant, publicly-shareable, documentation on mobile tool platforms and implementations to inform requirements development and implementation planning
  • Review and comment on requirements documentation and software development roadmap
  • Review and contribute to the common data dictionary and interoperability standards
  • Provide input on testing and rollout plans for mobile tools based on experience
  • Use, and encourage the usage of, common goods and mobile tools developed

Common Goods Development

The COP will serve as a pool of open-source software developers who contribute their time to create global, common goods that can be adopted by COP members and other mobile tool providers. Expected commitment: interested members will commit time to develop, test, and adopt open-source code libraries as defined by specific scopes of work.

Responsibilities:

  • Join relevant technical working groups to finalize requirements and develop common goods
  • Encourage other mobile tool providers to test, provide feedback, and adopt common goods into their mobile platforms

Mobile Tools Development

The COP will serve as a pool of technical partners who can be engaged to build or enhance mobile tools for malaria elimination programs. Expected commitment: interested members will submit proposals in response to one or more RFPs that will be released through this community.

Responsibilities:

  • Apply to be a core mobile partner to develop and help implement deployment-specific applications of the solution as interested

Long-term sustainability

The COP will work to establish a long-term approach to sustain its collaboration and continually improve digital tools for malaria elimination. Expected commitment: contribute ideas and commitments during routine touch points to assess and evolve the COP structure once per year.

Responsibilities:

  • Actively participate in an annual discussion on the direction of the COP to shape its purpose, responsibilities, and governance structure
